The discovery of viruses as a unique life form came about in 1892. Dmitri Iwanowski, a Russian scientist, accidentally revealed that viruses were responsible for a common tobacco disease. He determined this by filtering the diseased tissues in an attempt to collect the organism causing the tobacco disease. Iwanowski was amazed when he discovered that the disease organism was smaller than any known cell. Other scientists carried out similar studies on other diseases and called the disease organisms "unfilterable infectious agents." This filtration method distinguished viruses from bacterial, fungal, and protistan diseases, which did not pass through filters. These unfilterable agents were renamed in 1915. Scientists generally used the term Twort particles for viruses causing agricultural animal disease, named after English scientists Frederick William Twort, who isolated viruses from cattle.

일단 잘린 부분까지 보면 rename 되었는데 generally 불리던 이름만 언급하고 바뀐 이름 언급이 없는데 이거 이상한거 맞죠? 원문 찾아보니까 virus로 바뀌었다는 내용이 추가로 나오더만요.

저기서 다섯번째 줄에 This filteration method가 가리키는게 정확히 무엇인가요? 제 생각에는 filtering the diseased tissues ~ tobacco disease를 말하는거 같은데 그러면 Other scientists ~ agents"까지의 문장이 들어가있는게 어색하지 않나요? 지시대명사가 지시하는게 일단 너무 멀리 있기도 하고 내용 전개도 어색하고요.

농산업이나 축산업에서 발생하는 질병을 만드는 바이러스가 트워트 파티클이라고 일반적으로 불림. 바뀐 이름은 당연히 바이러스.

filtration method -> 이것저것 다 걸러내고 바이러스 남기는 방법

그러니까 generally 불린 이름만 언급해주면 바뀐 이름은 당연한거라 뒤에 언급을 안한거군요
그리고 filtration method 내용은 정확히 어디에 있는지.. 설명해주실수있나요
