Often in social scientific practice, even where evidence is used, it is not used in the correct way for adequate scientific testing. In much of social science, evidence is used only to affirm a particular theory ― to search for the positive instances that uphold it. 부정적인 예시가 있는 이론들을 활용해라, 즉 falsify 해라 라는 의미 아닌가요??

5번 선지 해석하면 부정적 예시가 부족한 이론들을 거부하라인데, 이론을 확고히 하려면 부정적인 예시를 포함한 이론이 거짓임을 증명(falsify) 해야죠. 부정적 예시가 부족한(lack) 이론을 거부한다(reject를 falsify랑 동의어로 보았습니다)는 것은 정반대의 얘기죠.

책에 있는 해설을 가져와보면(이솔루션)

5번 선지 분석은
"부정적 사례가 많은 것을 거부하는 것이지, 적은 것을 거부하는 것이 아닙니다. 지문 내용과 일치하지 않는 선택지입니다."
라고 하였습니다.

손무당님의 말대로 부정적 사례 혹은 예시가 적은 것을 거부하라는 것은 지문의 내용과 반대되는 의미입니다 ^^
