1. There are two terms, force vs persuasion, which are used to compare tactics. It is the description oftwo possible means to an end. Ideally, nonviolence works by opening the heart of the counterparts,in other words, by convincing them to voluntarily change their belief or action. Force ,on the otherhand, uses threat power so that one person feels they cant help surrendering. Even though theprocess of persuasion may take more time, it is likely not to lead to a cycle of revenge. By usingpersuasive means instead of coercive ones, the positive effects of a nonviolent action aremuch more durable. There are many nonviolent campaigns, however, where it is realisticallyimpossible to persuade because the opponent has been untouched by persuasive appeals.This was the case in the struggle against the Chilean autocrat Augusto Pinochet.It is unlikely that he           .① would have admitted that he was persuaded② would have used forcing as a means to an end③ would have employed persuasive means④ would have ever been coaxed to retire from power⑤ would have been persuaded without any violence2.According to a famous scientist, science is divided into two fields, called normal science andrevolutionary science. Occasionally, the community will come across especially resistantproblems, or exceptions, but if a paradigm come across only a few exceptions there is little reasonfor fear among its supporters. Only when exceptions accumulate will the community get into a stateof crisis, which may in turn make the community converted into the phase of the latter.During a period of the latter, some interpretations can describe a rationalist  for example, namely,Kuhn - as anti-rationalist. These interpretations build up their feasibilities from Kuhns own admissionlater that he        , though he spent much time denying the anti-rationalist interpretation.Kuhn and others come to accept that his argument no longer are universal.① would be a rationalist without the exceptions② could not provide a unanimous theory of his argument③ has pushed himself into the revolutionary science④ is interpreted to be just plausible by rationalists⑤ there is no rule but has exceptions3.Enlightenment is mans emergence from his self-imposed immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to useones understanding without guidances from another. These guardians show people the danger thatthreatens them, should they attempt to walk alone. Thus, it is difficult for any individual man to workhimself out of the immaturity that has all but become his nature. But that the public should enlightenitself is more likely; indeed, if it is only allowed freedom, enlightenment is almost inevitable.A few will always think for themselves, a few who, after having themselves thrown off the yoke ofimmaturity, will spread the spirit of a rational appreciation for both their own worth and for eachpersons calling to think for himself. But it should be particularly noted that if a public that was firstplaced in this yoke by the guardians is suitably aroused by some of those who are altogetherincapable of enlightenment, it may force the guardians themselves to remain under the yoke. Thus apublic can only attain enlightenment slowly. Perhaps a revolution can overthrow autocratic despotismand profiteering or power-grabbing oppression, but it can never truly reform a manner of thinking;instead, new prejudices, just like the old ones they replace, will        .* profiteering : 폭리를 취하는① serve as a leash for the great unthinking mass.② lead old guardians to throw off the yoke from old prejudices.③ keep the spirit of rational appreciation from spreading slowly.④ revive the old guardians with making revolution of thought impossible.⑤ gradually call for the unenlightened public to think for themselves .
