39. 글의 흐름으로 보아, 주어진 문장이 들어가기에 가장 적절한
곳은?
[So, when someone is threatening to go to war, or trying to
convince us and mounting a huge public relations campaign
to justify it, the news media have a responsibility to
question everything.]

It’s important that the media provide us with diverse and
opposing views, so we can choose the best available options.
Let’s take the example of going to war. ( ① ) War should be
a last resort, obviously, undertaken when all other options
have failed. ( ② ) They should be providing the most intense
scrutiny on our behalf, so the public can see the other side of
things. ( ③ ) Otherwise, we may be drawn into unnecessary
wars, or wars fought for reasons other than those presented
by governments and generals. ( ④ ) Most of the time, the
media fail to perform this crucial role. ( ⑤ ) Even the large,
so-called ‘liberal’ American media have admitted that they
have not always been watchdogs for the public interest, and
that their own coverage on some major issues “looks
strikingly one-sided at times.”

대체 어떻게하면②를 쓸 수가있죠?
전 this crucial role보고 고민없이 ④를 썼는데요..
④도 되잖아요.
④가 안되야하는게아니라 ④도 되는거같은데 왜 ②번이어야만하죠.. 이해가안되네요.. ④에 들어가서 말되고 근거도 this crucial role로 딱 있는데
이문제2번풀어봤는데 두번다 ④썼어요..
하 실전에서 너무나도 당연하게 ④쓸거같은데요?
왜냐면 고민하고 틀리면 내가 왜 틀렸나 생각하겠는데
이건 당연히 답이다 라고 쓰고 틀려서 너무 납득이 안됩니다.

2번도 되고.. 4번도 되는거같아서요 .. 솔직히 4번이 더 끌리고요.

[Even so, it is not the money per se that is valuable, but the
fact that it can potentially yield more positive experiences.]

Money ― beyond the bare minimum necessary for food and
shelter ― is nothing more than a means to an end. Yet so
often we confuse means with ends, and sacrifice happiness
(end) for money (means). It is easy to do this when material
wealth is elevated to the position of the ultimate end, as it so
often is in our society. ( ① ) This is not to say that the
accumulation and production of material wealth is in itself
wrong. ( ② ) Material prosperity can help individuals, as well
as society, attain higher levels of happiness. ( ③ ) Financial
security can liberate us from work we do not find meaningful
and from having to worry about the next paycheck. ( ④ )
Moreover, the desire to make money can challenge and inspire
us. ( ⑤ ) Material wealth in and of itself does not necessarily
generate meaning or lead to emotional wealth. [3점]

전 답을 ②라고했거든요? 왜냐면 주어진글에 긍정적 경험을 산출한다고 했으니 ②번문장은 긍정적경험 산출한거맞잖아요. 왜 ②가 안되요?

물질적 풍요를 만들어내는게 잘못은아니야. '그런데' 돈 '자체로'는 가치있지 않아. 왜 안돼요? per se 그 자체로.

이게 왜 이상해요?..

예를 들어볼게요

너가 공부를 시간을 많이 확보하는게 잘못은 아니야. '그런데' 시간 '그 자체'로는 가치있지않아. 집중할 시간이 많이 확보 될 수있다는 사실 빼고(yield more positive experience.).

완전 딱들어맞는데요?

그 뒤에 higher levels of happiness= more positive experiences. 까지 대체 이게 왜틀려요?

이 두문제 때문에 진도도 못나가고있어요 짜증나서 ㅠㅠ

하 제 생각이 아무리 생각해도 옳은거같은데 ..ㅠㅠ

음.. 보아하니 이명학 선생님의 해설강의 추천드려요
님같은 상황 클리닉 해주는 강의는 리로직 뒷부분에 있어요
정말 비수같이 꽂히실듯
위에껀 님과 같이 판단하면 3번뒷문장에 They를 해석해 낼 수가 없고
밑에것은 논리흐름방향이 안맞아요
자세한건 해설강의 ㄱㄱ

things. 에서의 They 말씀하시는건가요?

그렇다면 It’s important that the media provide us with diverse and
opposing views, ~ . 에서의 the media를 받아오면 되잖아요?

단수.. 그리고 너무 자의적으로 문제에 접근하시는것 같아요
님이 평가원이 맞춰가야되여 또 대명사가 그렇게 멀리 있는 단어 받지도 않아요
미디어뒤에 얼마나 많은 복수명사들이 있는데..

여러종류으, 미디어로 쓰일때는 복수로 쓰이지만
미디어 그 자체로 쓰일때는 단수로 쓰입니다
어쨌든 평가원의 논리에는 빈틈이 없습니다 체화잘 하시면
소름돋는 문제 출제 원리가 눈에 들어 오실꺼에요~ ㅎㅇㅌ
